Bios

Dr. William De Bonis is first and foremost a clinician who loves his profession.

A listener as well as a teacher, he is passionate about expanding his knowledge and involving patients in their care.

Dr. De Bonis graduated from Columbia University College School of Dental and Oral Surgery, and was also trained in a general practice residency at Lutheran Medical Center here in New York City.  His professional affiliations include membership in The Academy of General Dentistry, The New York County Dental Society and The American Dental Association.

An avid hiker, skier and practitioner of transcendental meditation, Dr. DeBonis greatest reward is seeing his patients return with healthy gums and long lasting restorations.

Dr. Neil Cohen graduated from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, one of only three Ivy League dental institutions in the country. His interest in dentistry began at an early age, when Dr. Cohen himself required extensive orthodontics and a jaw surgery to properly align his bite. After graduating dental school with honors, he continued on to receive a certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of California – San Francisco.

As a Prosthodontist, Dr. Cohen is a specialist in esthetic, reconstructive and implant dentistry. Dr. Cohen’s extensive training in prosthetics has given him the necessary skills to treat the most demanding cases and achieve outstanding results. His practice focuses on restoring both beauty and function to your teeth and smile, and his sincerity and passion for patient care create a warm and welcoming environment.

Dr. Cohen has lectured throughout the country on advanced restorative procedures, and was the recipient of the Earle Banks Hoyt Teaching Award for his dedication and commitment to dental academics. He maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, the New York County Dental Society and the New York Academy for Collaborative Dentistry.

Outside of the office, Dr. Cohen enjoys photography, travel, cooking and playing the drums.

Sheril Gooden – Hygienist

Sheril has been in the dentistry field for 30 years, specializing in clinical dental hygiene for the last 20 years.  She is licensed to practice in NY, NJ and CT., and has worked with Dr. DeBonis for over 2 years.

Sheril specializes in hand scaling. She is meticulous with soft tissue management and achieves success with even the most apprehensive patients.  As a hygienist, Sheril is passionate about educating her patients about any proposed treatment and the proper prevention of oral diseases.

Sheril has a beautiful daughter Sheena.  In her spare time she explores the various neighborhoods of NYC.  She loves working with her hands and as such enjoys making meals for her family and friends.

Kate Cozine - Hygienist

Kate has been practicing Dental Hygiene for 22 years. She attended Queens College for 2 years prior to pursuing Hygiene at SUNY Farmingdale where she graduated as a Phi Theta Kappa honor student, and currently attends Baruch College in the evening.

Kate's years of experience have given her the skills needed to deliver the highest quality of care to her patients. She takes pride in helping patients achieve a higher level of health, and strives to provide that in a friendly, relaxed environment where each patient's comfort is paramount. She is happy to be an integral part of Dr. DeBonis' team.

Valerie Vollmer, head dental assistant, has been a member of the Worldwide Plaza Dental team for many years. Valerie comes from a family of dentists and medical professionals. Val believes that even the most anxious patient can feel comfortable with the right approach and she is dedicated to patient care first and foremost. When she is not at WWP Dental Val can be heard singing at various venues throughout the city such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center or churches and temples. Val holds two advanced degrees in music and still finds time to be creative in other interests including culinary skills.
